The technology is primarily used for corrosion protection of large and complex engineering products. It also works as a complement to the hot dip galvanizing for repairs. An important advantage of this method is that the zinc coating thickness can be varied and also creates the surface a very good base for painting. To coat iron and steel parts with zinc is a very common and relatively inexpensive method to protect parts against corrosion.
